beaners baby shower!

on Sunday we celebrated our little beaner with a small gathering at mums house!  The weather was PERFECT!  the backyard was set up so pretty!  Thanks to my Zia Lucie, Eben and Mum for making that happen.  Rosie has better photos of the set up so i'll post them as soon as i get them from her!

everyone had to pin one of these bottle shaped pins on them.  i made them!

i made this lace mobile!

There was SO much food!  Europeans are never short on food but prior to the event we (mum and I) were stressing that there wouldn't be enough food!  we had everything from home made sausage rolls (thanks rhonda) to tuna pasta salad, to PB & J sandwiches and the sweet stuff went from rum balls (thanks nat) to scones (thanks anite) to a favourite of mine sake-torte (thanks oma)!
I made a few Minnesota/American treats too!  I really wanted to incorporate the beaners heritage and it was a bit of fun for everyone :)  I made PB & J sandwiches with traditional grape jelly - jello salad - angel food cake - rice krispie treats - we had a smores area going and a lemonade stand!

mini lemon lime and bitters

i riusp!  a traditional donut style italian treat!  Zia Lucie did an awesome job

mmmm custard cream filled donuts

these were sickly sweet... dont know how you eat them!

We were lucky enough to have the Minnesota State flower at the baby shower too!  Although it wasnt the PINK lady slipper.. it was a lady slipper.  SO SO pretty!!!  Thanks to Leanne from Ambrosia Florist for tracking these down, i know it wasnt easy!

The day was pretty perfect except for ..... the wasps.... we had hundreds of them flying around the food table!!  Ive never seen them THAT bad before!  We usually get a few when food is out and because of the pool - they seem to like to be around water.  It was super annoying and they were kind of agressive.  We tried to keep the food covered with a sheer sheet so they weren't on the food.  That was probably my worst nightmare.  If anyone knows me, they know i despise wasps, bees and the like.  Im terrified.

ANYWAY it turned out to be an awesome day and i was so fortunate to have the help of my family!  As usual i was running late and people were turning up as we were still setting up .. but it all worked out okay because of them!  Thank You Thank You!  Especially to mum and Nat - you guys were awesome!

Here are some happy snaps from the day :)
